Even though my flight arrived extremely late, William was awake and greeted me when I arrived. He showed me around the house and provided me with the extra pillows I requested for a good nights sleep. The house is only a block away from Alberta Street where all is happening in that area of town. I am gluten free and William made sure that I had gluten free breakfast the following mornings.
Fantastic home, we felt comfortable right away! This beautiful house had tons of charm and was a wonderfully peaceful place to come to rest at the end of each night. Interactions with the other housemates quickly made me realize that Bill is an Airbnb fan favourite! Bill (and everyone staying in the house) was very helpful with recommendations of where to go and what to see in the neighbourhood. We got to explore a part of Portland that we had never been to before. We had to leave early on our last day, but Bill was up before us baking, and sent us on our way with delicious homemade muffins. Thanks for a wonderful stay, we would definitely come back!
My host William was so welcoming and made the house super comfy checking in with me to make sure everything was okay throughout my stay. The location was in the perfect place for my school weekend as it was sooo close! And the kitchen was my favorite part, I loved how he didn’t mind me bringing a lot of food into the house and to have great storage for it!! He was the most accommodating bed and breakfast owner I’ve met yet. Thank you William!! I will be back!!
This was my first bed and breakfast experience and I’m sure the next ones will pale in comparison. The home (notice I said home and not house) is exactly as represented. William’s house helper Tudie is amazing. She seems to sense when to give space and when to give a hug. She was the highlight of the visit. The home is not even a block off Albert Street and every possible food combination is represented within walking distance, not to mention some pretty interesting little shops. Check out the Radio Room, on chilly nights they have an open fire on their outdoor patio that was toasty and their food was incredible. I was here Christmas weekend through the end of the following week and it was a lot of fun. You can’t go wrong here.
Everything about this place was amazing!!!!! William Is an outstanding host! Not only did he treat us like family. He told us all sorts of great places. To go and eat , drink and check out . His house is one of a kind , for anyone out there that loves 1920’s retro furniture ,fixtures and tile work this is a haven for you . One more awesome tidbit about William he is also one of the best cooks I’ve ever met and every morning there was an amazing breakfast including fresh bread, juices and pour over coffee . I felt really spoiled to be staying at his house.
This is a magical place. Each day I awoke and he laid out coffee and some slices of whatever amazing little thing he baked. He made us feel so welcome and the space he kept was both beautiful and endlessly supportive and full if love.
William is a knowledgeable, accommodating soul with a sweet demeanor. (This was our first Airbnb booking and we couldn’t have asked for a more positive experience.) Tudie, who assists William, is a free spirit who intuitively seems to know exactly what you need. (She invited us into her tiny house and played her uke for us upon arrival – it was a perfect arrival greeting!) We felt like family during our stay in this eclectic community of Portland. Also important to note is that the house is full of authentic details, unique and masterfully done to fit the time period of the house. I discovered new details every day. William is a great cook and so far he has made us frittatas, blueberry muffins, and an incredible almond cake! Finally, someone is always available either in person or via smart phone to answer questions, however you also have plenty of room and privacy to feel comfy in your own space. Two thumbs up – three if I had them for our time at William’s.

Just the best experience! This was my first time using Airbnb, and it was a fantastic introduction it it. Bill was so kind and helpful. He was incredibly easy to get a hold of for questions and extremely helpful. Staying at his place played a large part in making my trip to Portland memorable and when I go back there is no doubt I’ll stay with him again. Aside from his wonderful personality, the house is clean, welcoming, and comfortable. The shower is fantastic, and the breakfast is perfect for starting off your day. I couldn’t recommend Bill’s place more strongly.
I really enjoyed the homey vibe and how welcoming Bill is. He makes a delightful breakfast for his guests and is very nice and outgoing. The place is clean, comfy and has a great outdoor seating to chill with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee in the morning.
This was a fantastic experience in all senses! Brill (William, Bill), 2D and all of the others were beyond lovely! I felt like part of an extended family. We had much in common and I loved talking and sharing mutual experiences. The atmosphere is warm and loving. And it is real. The house is gorgeous and my room was simply luscious.Homemade goodies for breakfast and delicious coffee made the morning extremely pleasant. The location is perfect, in a quiet neighborhood and 2 steps from the well-known Alberta Street. I made new friends and was sad to leave.
